Dry powder inhalers do not need critical coordination between actuation of the inhaler and inspiration, the patient’s air flow during inspiration (“the inspiratory flow”) will release the drug from the device. No inspiration – no drug release, weak inspiration can be insufficient to release all the metered drug dose.
